Ashcombe Under 15 Girls reach National Final 2006

On Sunday 12th March 2006 Ashcombe played in the National Under 15 last 8 competition. They beat Cleobury, Nunthorpe and Devizes in pool matches and St Edwards in the semi-final. The final match was against Tameside and the Ashcombe girls put up a tired but spirited fight but lost 2-0.

Saturday 7th October 2006 10.a.m. - 2.00.p.m.Under 16 and 18 Boys and Girls teams tournament at The Ashcombe Centre, Dorking. Ashcombe win Under 16 and Under 18 girls tournament and The American School, Cobham win the Under 18 boys section.

2006 Under 16 National Beach  Champions! 

Susan Hoare and Jess Grimson, representing South East England, finished first in the first Junior National Competition held on Brighton Beach on 17th September. Maria Frost and Narmina Hasanova also represented South East and beat the London team to enable Jess and Susan to take first place.

4 Under 16 teams entered the Sandbanks Tournament on Saturday 15th July. All 8 players performed well, winning more games than they lost and will still be young enough to be eligible for the competition next year.

Junior Coaching appointments in Surrey and West Sussex

Ruth Deaville and Arsene De Kesel are working in Surrey and Sara Neale in West Sussex - Worthing area - as Junior Community Coaches. Contacts have been made and sessions begun in many schools, especially those close to The Ashcombe School and Durrington High School. Both have adult clubs with junior sections for the young players to continue their volleyball after school.

Ashcombe Under 18 Girls   

2nd round matches at Ashcombe 2006 on Sunday 26th February v Tendring, St. Edwards and Whipps saw Ashcombe go through with Tendring to the last 8 competition in Nottingham on March 19th.

Ashcombe could not find their best form at The National Finals and although they beat Tees Valley in their first game they were beaten 2-0 by Tettenhall Tigers and 2-1 by Melksham. The team will be back next year to aim for a final place.

1st in pool.  2nd round matches on Saturday 28th Jan 2006 at Melksham Wessex Lost 2-0 3rd in pool. 

Ashcombe Under 16 Boys  

1st round matches on Saturday 10th December 2005  at Melksham v Melksham, and Plymouth and draw both games 1-1 and go through on points. Ashcombe lose v Wessex, Kings and Plymouth in the 2nd round competition but show great promise for the future.
